No we are not sinking, we are cruising into the end of the school year! As we head into the warmer weather and fun of the spring, there are a number of dates to keep in mind for fun events! The PTO is currently wrapping up their end of the year plant sale. Thank you to all who have purchased the beautiful hanging baskets. Proceeds go to supporting our students and field trips. Welcome back!  I hope everyone enjoyed some time off, the last significant time off until summer vacation! As the weather is finally getting nicer, more and more of our students are riding bicycles and scooters to school.  This is great exercise and it’s great to see. Please let me remind you that it is a law in Massachusetts that ALL students under the age of 16 have to wear a helmet.  Please make sure your child has on a helmet when riding or scootering to school. April 23, 2019 Dear Parents/ Guardians, With the measles outbreak being on the news and confirmed in Massachusetts, we wanted to give you all some information regarding the virus and its prevention. According to the CDC, as of April 4, 2019 there have been 465 cases of infected persons in 19 states in the US. I am pleased to announce that Joanne Menard will become Gill-Montague’s secondary level principal effective July 1, 2019. Ms. Menard has accepted the position pending successful contract negotiations which should be complete later this week. Ms. Menard has been the principal of Petersham Center School for the past four years. Prior to that she was an instructional coach in Medway, and a middle school science teacher in Spencer-East Brookfield, in addition to holding other teaching and private sector positions.
