Turners Falls High School and Great Falls Middle School Principal’s Update – October 8, 2021
Monday, October 11th is a holiday and there is no school.
PSAT (Practice SAT) for 10th Grade Our Sophomores, and registered Juniors, are scheduled to take the PSAT on the morning of Wednesday, October 13th in the gym. This practice test is a great opportunity for the students to get a feel for what it is like to take the SAT. The 10th graders will report to their A-Block class for attendance and then they will head to the gym to test. They will be able to finish testing by lunch, and head to their E-Block class after lunch.
Late Bus Our late bus will begin operating on Tuesday, October 12th and it will run Mondays through Fridays. It will leave the school at 4:00 p.m. Students who are getting help from teachers or engaged in activities which end before 4:00 are welcome to take the bus. Also, if students are receiving help from their teachers and they have completed that work prior to 4:00, we will have them supervised until the bus arrives.
Booster Week and Homecoming! The past year and half school has looked very different for schools, but we are working hard to bring the fun and excitement back our school community. To this end, Turners Falls High School will be bringing back “Booster Week” during the week of October 18-22. Each day will be a fun, dress-up day and each class is awarded points for dressing up. We will also have “Hallway Wars” where each class gets a hallway to decorate and they are voted on. At the end of the week, on Friday night, we will host the Homecoming here at school for students in grades 9- 12. The tickets are five dollars, and HS students can sign up in the cafeteria during HS lunch. The dance will be held in the courtyard next to the cafeteria, and will run from 7:00-10:00 p.m. We hope to have a strong turnout, so please encourage your students to come out and dance the night away with their friends!
Flu Clinic Great Falls Middle School and Turners Falls High School is pleased to announce that we will be holding a flu clinic on October 19, 2021 from 2:00 - 3:30. Please sign up by contacting one of our school nurses: melissa.lynde@gmrsd.org and amy.killay@gmrsd.org. Drop-ins are welcome if you forget to sign up. Please park by the side doors next to the Football field. Set-up will be outside those doors. We hope to see many of you there!
Daily Home Screening Please remember to have your child perform their daily home screening prior to coming to school each morning. Attached is the form for reference. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your school nurse. The daily home screening protocol is attached this email.
