Winter Weather Delays and Cancellation Information
Hello GFMS and TFHS Families,
Perhaps a little earlier than expected, we are preparing for possible winter weather delays and cancellations, and want to remind you of the following information.
In terms of notifying families about delays or cancellations for the Gill-Montague Regional School District, we communicate this news through the following channels, usually between 5:45 and 6:00 am:
-
announcements on radio station WHAI, TV 22 and TV 40
-
automated phone calls to all current family main household phone numbers
-
district webpage page posting (gmrsd.org)
We have heard that our phone messages are sometimes cut short when they are received by voicemail. Unfortunately, that is not something we have control over. We record full messages and repeat the key details at the end of the message so you will be sure to receive it. If you need to update your main household phone number listing, please contact the main office at 863-7200.
In cases of school cancellation:
-
the daily schedule adjusts when we return (e.g. if an odd day is cancelled, the next school day will be an odd day)
-
information about afternoon/evening events will be shared via automated phone/email/website message, depending on the event
-
information about athletic practices will be communicated to the teams by the coaches, and tweeted @TurnersAthletics
-
information about athletic games/meets will be tweeted @TurnersAthletics and posted on digitalsports.net and MIAA.
In cases of 2 hour delayed opening:
-
the schedule for TFHS is: BLOCK A 9:45 - 10:37, BLOCK C 10:40 - 11:32, BLOCK D 11:35 - 12:27, LUNCH 12:30 – 1:00, BLOCK E 1 :04 - 2:25 (no GAP)
-
the schedule for GFMS starts with Morning Meeting or CPR 9:45-10:00 and then varies by grade level
-
if circumstances require a delayed opening on a scheduled in-service day, the in-service will be cancelled, and students will have a regular 2:25 pm dismissal instead
-
breakfast is still available in the cafeteria (no mobile cart)
-
lunch choices may be limited and will be announced to students.
We appreciate you reading this and sharing it with your family members so we can do our best to keep learning in motion through the winter months! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely, Annie Leonard, Principal
