At Hillcrest, Thursday, August 30th marks the first day of school for our first grade students. For kindergarten and preschool students, Thursday, August 30th and Friday, August 31st are "Getting to Know You" Conference Days. These days are set aside for each preschool and kindergarten family to meet with their child’s teacher for a thirty-minute individualized session. If you are a preschool or kindergarten family, you should have received a letter indicating your conference time on the 30th or the 31st.

Dear GFMS and TFHS Families: After much hard work by our staff, we received good news from the state late last week: GFMS and TFHS qualify for the Community Eligibility Provision, meaning we are now "free school meals for all students" schools!
Breakfast is available to all students beginning at 7:30 am in the cafeteria or from our mobile Breakfast Cart (in the event of a delayed opening, no breakfast will be served). Our cafeteria offers several options each day for lunch. This includes a bagged lunch available on half-days to students who sign up the previous...

We have many new, highly talented and dedicated staff joining our learning community this year. I would like to introduce you to few of them over the next few weeks. I will lead off the introductions today with the district’s new school resource officer (SRO), Dan Miner of the Montague Police Department. Officer Miner is a graduate of Turners Falls High School and has been on the Montague force since 1997. Dan lives in Montague and this past year he had three children attending district schools. Greetings Gill Community,
I hope you have all had a restful and relaxing summer full of ice cream, swimming and the occasional lightning show. Teachers and Mr. Eckert have been hard at work getting their classrooms and the school ready, and Gill Elementary looks great!
This year we have three new staff members joining us. Ms. Jenay Haskins will be teaching first grade. She comes highly recommended from Pearl Rhodes, and has spent the summer making her classroom a home away from home for her students. Here's the letter that went out in the mail to school families last week. It includes information about what to expect on the first day of school, staffing changes, and other important details.
