Happy Friday and happy fall from Gill Elementary.
It’s hard to believe that we’re already heading to the end of September. Students are rolling in their classrooms, as routines and procedures have been established and practice.
I’d like to thank parents and guardians who are picking up at the end of the day for their patience as students load into cars to head home. There have been very few incidences of people passing without permission, and as a result, no close-calls this year during the most dangerous part of our day. As a slight change to procedure, we are asking students whose parents or guardians walk up to collect them to wait until called to walk out to meet their parents. This will prevent the initial crush of kids heading out all at once. I’d also like to request that when collecting students from bus stops, people take care and caution when driving off so as to not endanger students, other drivers or the school bus.
As we get into fall, we come upon one of my favorite things, the annual Gill Fire. This year, it will be held from 5:30-7:30 on 10/12. During the day, students will be making scarecrows. Additionally, the town of Gill will be hosting a contra dance in the All-Purpose Room at the same time (6:00-8:00) The whole event should be a lot of fun, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone. On that note, if anyone has pallets they would like to donate to the cause, please feel free to drop them off on the sandy area down the hill from the blacktop. We only ask that you avoid Thursdays and drop-off/ pick-up times for this.
Have a great weekend.
