Health Services
At Gill Elementary, we do our best to make sure our students are in their best physical condition to soak up the daily schedule teachers have planned.
We have a registered nurse, Carol Varner, on staff to help facilitate your child’s medical needs. Please do not hesitate to contact her with any concerns or questions regarding your child’s health.
Effective Communication
Please contact our nurse at (413) 863-7458, and leave a message at any time to update us with any information we may need to be aware of regarding your child. Don’t forget to leave accurate contact information.
Reporting an Absence
Reporting an absence to the main office: Call (413) 863-3255 and dial "0" to report your child absent.
Sick Child Guidelines
We strongly encourage parents to responsibly assess whether their child is in adequate health to attend classes. Students should not attend school:
- If they have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher
- Within 24 hours of antibiotics being prescribed
- If they are experiencing vomiting and/or diarrhea
- If they have severe cold symptoms, an upper respiratory infection, a persistent cough, or a runny nose that they cannot manage by themselves or contain with tissues
- If they have been diagnosed with a communicable disease or illness
We ask that students stay home for at least 24 hours after resuming a normal temperature. Please contact our school nurse at (413) 863-7458 before sending your child back to school.
