Dear Gill Families, Caregivers, and Staff,

These are busy days here at school! Such a welcome change from last fall when everyone was home. I have to say I SO appreciate seeing all of your children every day in person and all that they bring to share here.

Here are some updates to be aware of:

• Virtual Open House. On Thursday evening, parents/caregivers will be receiving a link to a slideshow specifically created for your child’s classroom, by all of the teachers that work with them. It was unsafe to invite everyone in for the typical “in person” Open House. We hope that this information shared provides some insights to your child’s experience here.
• BONFIRE DONATIONS: We are looking for donations of wooden pallets for the Bonfire, just a week away! If you have some to donate, please come after school hours and drop off the wood in the Bonfire circle out back, behind the white tent. Thank you in advance for your donations!
• Winter Clothing Swap: We welcome you to bring in and donate gently used and clean winter clothing items on the Bonfire night. Coats, boots, snow pants, and any other winter gear is appreciated. We all know how quickly children can outgrow winter gear that is barely used. Here is your chance to donate and possibly find something to fit your growing child! We will be setting this up in the All Purpose Room for parents to peruse.
• CORI Process- If parents are volunteering in classrooms and chaperoning on field trips, we MUST have a CORI check completed. Please contact Christina.Thurston@gmrsd.org for this paperwork.
• Fire Prevention Week- The Gill Fire Department did a great job this week in educating students about smoke alarms, having a safe place to meet if there is a fire, seeing what a fireman looks like in his gear, what to do in a smoke-filled room, and many other safety tips and hands on practice. I’d like to extend a big thank you to them for coming to the school to share their expertise in educating our students.
