Dear Gill Families, Caregivers, and Staff,
Students from Mt. Hermon finished their Spanish Service program for this semester last Friday. They visited several classrooms on Fridays as part of their coursework in a partnership with Gill Elementary. We have very much enjoyed their visits and we expect to continue this program with a new group of students for the next semester. They will be missed!
Here are some updates and reminders to be aware of:
- We have a few days left for our food drive. Please send in any food items by Friday. Thanks for all of your support!
- The 6th grade Holiday Bazaar is tomorrow and Friday. Students should bring in some funds if they’d like to purchase. All items are $.50!
- I’m pleased to announce that Gill Elementary has been awarded a STARS Residency for a Naturalist in Residence with the Hitchcock Center from Amherst. Helen Ann Sephton will be working with students in grades K-3 for science and engineering enrichment entitled: Our Schoolyard Ecosystem: Outdoor Explorations Through the Seasons. The first visit was last week and students thoroughly enjoyed being outside and learning more about our outdoor environment.
- At our All-School Meet last week, we recognized two of our students who have walked incredible distances in the ongoing Gill 100 Mile Club. As of last week, two of our first grade students, Charlie and Eben, have walked a total of 70 miles together! Here they are wearing big smiles (under their masks), for accomplishing their milestones and earning their t-shirts. They may break a record here this year!! We are so proud of our students who are participating in this program.
Sincerely,
Lisa Desjarlais
