Highlights from the Rising Star Youth Leaders Summer '23 Program

This year we had an expanded group of 15 Rising Star Youth Leaders (RSYL) largely between the ages of 13-16 from our middle /high school.  This year’s group, led by district staff members David Potter and Stacey Langknecht, had a strong community exploration focus. The program included first aid and babysitter training, tie-dye t-shirt making, volunteering within our elementary summer program in pre-k to rising grade 4, local field trips to learn more about town government, public services, area businesses, and central school office administration (business office, technology, school facilities, registration, student services, school superintendent’s office). They also did a school mural project, made origami, and took field trips to the Butterfly Conservatory and All in Adventures Escape Rooms in Hadley.
