Return to In-Person Learning Message from Superintendent Beck
Dear Gill-Montague Families,
Return to In-Person Learning for Students Next Week
Thank you for responding to school-based surveys and phone calls, regarding the return of full in-person learning for students in our school district. Starting next Monday April 5th, Pre-School through 6th grade will return 5 days per week. Pre-School will remain a half-day program, while K-6 students will resume the regular school year calendar and schedule.
- Monday, April 5th - K-6 students will attend school full time, Pre-school 1/2 days
- Wednesday, April 7th, Early Release PD day- district wide
Students in grades 7 through 12 will remain in the hybrid learning model for the first two weeks of April. Students will attend school on Wednesdays in Cohorts, as follows below:
- 7-12 students in Cohort A & AB will be in person on Wed April 7th, Early Release PD day
- 7-12 students in Cohort B & AB will attend full day of school Wed April 14th
Our plan as a district is to have students in grades 7-12 return to full time school, 5 days a week on Monday, April 26th .
All safety, health, hygiene, mask-wearing, and social distancing requirements will remain the same. Desks will now be at a minimum of 3 feet apart, but students will still be expected to transition between classes and continue eating, at 6 feet apart from others.
Keeping the School Community Safe
We are beginning to return our students to full-time schooling, as the COVID-19 vaccine becomes more accessible for adults. However, as cases are rising across the nation and in Massachusetts, we will continue to rely on one another to continue to use great care in observing safe and healthy interactions in the community. We will also remain dependent upon the excellent communication from families, who have kept the schools informed, when their child or members of the household have tested positive or have to quarantine. And, of course, we will continue to monitor the trends in COVID-19 data.
We are hopeful that all families will sign consents to allow their student to participate in our pool testing program. This kind of survey testing is an excellent way for us to help keep the virus out of our buildings.
Please expect more communication related to necessary changes in Meal Pick Up and a plea to families, regarding travel, with April vacation approaching. Thank you all and stay safe!
Sincerely,
Brian Beck
