Message from Superintendent Beck Regarding Capital Attack
Dear GMRSD Families,
The events at our nation’s Capitol Building that unfolded yesterday were shocking and dramatic for many of us to watch. The violence and attempts to disrupt the democratic process are traumatic and provoke many emotions and feelings from all who witness them.
We are living through these events in real time, and as families it is often difficult to know how to react or respond to questions from our children. Questions may range from understanding what happened from a political lens, or children may have concerns about safety, after viewing what unfolded. Working with many educational professionals, including our own teachers and administrators, we have collected some resources for you to draw upon as you think about how you may react or respond. (See links below)
We are here to support you. Please feel free to reach out your child’s teacher or administrator for support, especially if you are concerned that your child may need to be connected to a counselor.
Let us continue to work together to maintain the strength of our community!
Sincerely,
Brian Beck
