Dear Hillcrest Families,

This week, our students had the opportunity to celebrate our TFHS graduates at the traditional Senior Walk-Through.  The TFHS Seniors, dressed in their caps and gowns, participated in a procession from Hillcrest to Sheffield and all of our students cheered them on.  It was such an exciting moment for our students and staff and for the TFHS seniors. Congratulations to the Class of 2022!

A few important news items:

  • A special thank you goes out to the Turners Falls Fire Department and the Montague Police Department for bringing Community Safety Day to our first graders on Wednesday.  Our first graders had a blast checking out the safety vehicles, learning from the firefighters and police officers, and spending time with police K-9, Artie, and comfort dog, Mack. 

 

  • Friends of Hillcrest has some fun Spirit Days planned for our students next week! Wednesday will be Rainbow Day, Thursday will be Character Day and Friday will be Hat & Sunglasses Day.  Participation in these Spirit Days is voluntary. See the flier in your student’s backpack for more details. 

 

  • Please be sure to read the attached Meeting Summary from this week’s Friends of Hillcrest meeting. 

 

  • Next Friday, June 10th is Hillcrest Field Day.  Hillcrest parent, Liz Tyler, has volunteered to organize this special event – thank you, Liz! Please be sure that your child wears sunscreen and sneakers to school.  Please apply sunscreen at home before school.  And, please send along a hat and water bottle.  

 

REPEAT ITEMS

  • We have many fun End of the Year Events scheduled in the next few weeks. These include:

    • Kindergarten Screening for incoming Kindergarten students on June 2nd, 6th & 7th

    • Summer Reading Kick-Off for all Hillcrest students on Wednesday, June 8th

    • First Grade Visit to Sheffield on Wednesday, June 8th

    • Field Day for all Hillcrest students on Friday, June 10th

    • Last Day of School on Wednesday, June 15th

 

  • Please mark your calendars – there are several Early Release Days in June. As always, lunch will be served.  Preschoolers will be dismissed at 11:30 and Kindergarten and First Grade students will be dismissed at 12:00. 

    • Friday, June 10th

    • Monday, June 13th

    • Tuesday, June 14th

    • Wednesday, June 15th (Early Release Day & Last Day of School)
