Dear Hillcrest Families,

I hope you’ll all have a chance to enjoy some fun with your Hillcrest students during school vacation week!  If you’re looking for some local kid-friendly fun, you may want to check out the Snowy Story Investigations Stations at the Great Falls Discovery Center.  There are two indoor Story Walks during vacation week – Under the Snow by Melissa Stewart from February 17th - 21st and Rabbit’s Snow Dance by James & Joseph Bruhac from February 24th - 27th. 

A few important news items:

  • For those students who are participating in the At-Home Covid-19 Testing Program, a test kit is coming home in their backpacks today.  We encourage you to maintain the weekly Monday morning testing routine on Monday, February 21st and Monday, February 28th.  

 

  • The GMRSD mask mandate will remain in place when we return to school on Monday, February 28th.  The Superintendent and the School Committee have not made any changes to our current mask requirements and all students, staff and visitors to our schools will continue to be required to wear masks. 

 

  • When we return from school vacation week, we’ll be celebrating the joys of reading on Read Across America Day (Wednesday, March 2nd). Ms. LaTronica, our elementary librarian, has some fun activities planned for our students. In addition, we’ll be sending each Hillcrest student home with a new book that day.  We love books here at Hillcrest!

 

  • Friends of Hillcrest is looking ahead to conferences in mid March and is hoping to use the conference days as an opportunity to show some appreciation for our teachers.  If you’d like to sign up to provide a snack to our teachers, please follow this linr: https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/546991544533600037/true#/invitation  You will also find this link in the attached PDF in your weekly email. 

 

  • Friends of Hillcrest has two meetings coming up – Monday, February 28th at 5:00 and Wednesday, March 30th at 5:00.  All Hillcrest community members are welcome at Friends of Hillcrest meetings. Please check your email on Monday, February 28th for a meeting link.
