Friday News
September 24, 2021
Dear Hillcrest Families,
It’s hard to believe that this is our final Friday News for the month of September! These first few weeks of the school year have zoomed right by! This week, many of our classrooms celebrated the first day of Fall with fall-themed read-alouds, math games and art projects. I hope you’ve had a chance to talk with your Hillcrest students about what they have learned about the new season.
A few important news items:
-
With the arrival of fall, we anticipate that children will be arriving at school with sweatshirts, sweaters or light jackets. Please be sure to label all clothing with your child’s first and last name. We often see many duplicate clothing items and when they are left behind on the playground or in the cubby areas, an accurate label is incredibly helpful in ensuring the item makes its way back home to you!
-
Yuki, Therapy Dog in Training, made his first visit to Hillcrest this week! Yuki spent his day in Ms. Halina’s office and took a couple of brief walks around the building. A note introducing Yuki went home in children’s backpacks earlier this week. A copy is included with this week’s Friday News email as well.

Friends of Hillcrest will be distributing the mums from their recent fundraiser on Tuesday, September 28th. They are also looking for volunteers to assist with distribution. If you are able to help, please contact Shayna Reardon at shayna.reardon@gmail.com. You may pick up your mums at 11:30 (Half-Day Preschool Dismissal) and at 3:00 (Full-Day Preschool Dismissal) and 3:15 (K & 1 Dismissal).

Friends of Hillcrest held its first meeting this week and they established dates for upcoming meetings. The next few meetings will be held on October 27, December 1 and January 26. Friends of Hillcrest is always happy to welcome new members at meetings and events, so please join in whenever you are able to!

Weekly Covid Screening (formerly known as Pool Testing) began this week. You will find them by going to the district website www.grmsd.org and clicking on the pink GMRSD Covid Information banner. You can also click here GMRSD Covid Information Page.
