Friday News
October 16, 2020
Dear Hillcrest Families,
I hope you have all had a productive week of remote learning! I’ve had a chance to chat with a few parents this week and it’s been helpful to hear about both the challenges and the successes that you’ve all been experiencing. Our entire Hillcrest staff is so appreciative of the incredible efforts of parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and older siblings . . . thank you so much! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns. You can chat with teachers at their daily office hours or send them an email, too. You can also reach me at 863-7400 or at sarah.burstein@gmrsd.org.
Just a few updates to share:
-
Many of you have already completed the Family Return to School Survey. If not, you can still add your responses by going to the GMRSD website. Or, you can call Mrs. Prokowich in the Hillcrest Main Office at 863-9526. You may have already received a phone call from Mrs. Prokowich. She is happy to enter your survey data for you if computer access is a challenge.

This week I presented the Hillcrest Elementary School Improvement Plan to the GMRSD School Committee. This year’s plan focuses on Mathematics, English Language Arts, Teaching for Diversity, and Social Emotional Learning. I am still looking for some parent volunteers to join our School Council, the group that helps to build and implement the initiatives of the Improvement Plan. Please give me a call if you are interested in joining the School Council. Thank you!

Please be on the lookout for updates on our shift to the Hybrid Model. You will receive updates from GMRSD Superintendent, Brian Beck, via email. You can also check the district website for updates.
