October 2, 2020
Dear Hillcrest Families,
October is here and we are certainly seeing signs of autumn all around us! The leaves are falling and there are so many pumpkins dotting the local farm fields. With the cooler weather comes a very important reminder about flu and flu shots. Please keep in mind that the Massachusetts Department of Public Health is requiring the flu vaccine for all public school students this year. Be sure to check your email for additional details about this new requirement. You can also check out School Health Resources for Parents at mass.gov.
A few important news items:
-
You should have received a Transportation Registration email from me earlier this week. Please be sure to complete the Transportation Registration form by the end of the day today. You can also find the survey at this link: Transportation Registration
-
You should have also received an email from Superintendent Brian Beck regarding this week’s School Committee vote to begin a transition to Hybrid Learning. Please be sure to check your email inboxes for that. Keep in mind that some email software directs this type of broadcast email to your Spam or Clutter box.
-
There will be a Family Flu Clinic held outdoors at Sheffield Elementary School on Wednesday, October 21st from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Flu vaccines will be available to all GMRSD families. Again, please check your email for details.

We all know how challenging Remote Learning can be for families and we are consistently grateful for all your hard work and attention to your students’ learning. If you have questions about what’s happening in your child’s classroom or about a particular assignment, please reach out to your child’s teacher by attending their daily offices hours or by sending an email. Please do not interrupt a Live Lesson or a Google Meet with a question that can be addressed at office hours or via email. Please keep in mind that all teachers remain in their Google Meets at the close of a lesson in order to answer student questions.

Don’t forget about the Hillcrest Remote Learning Website. You can visit that site for access to our Google Classrooms and for the Principal’s Daily Message.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend ---
