Hillcrest Updates

  • Thank you for joining us at our January All School Meeting today! We are always so happy to have family and community members here at school!

  • We have a collection of beautiful handmade hats here at school that were donated by a local crafter.  If your child, or their younger siblings, need a new hat, please send me an email and we will send one home in their backpack. 

  • We’ve noticed that some of our students are not riding in booster seats in their family vehicles, so I wanted to share the Massachusetts regulations around child safety seats.

    • Section 7AA. A passenger in a motor vehicle on any way who is under the age of 8 shall be fastened and secured by a child passenger restraint, unless such passenger measures more than 57 inches in height. The child passenger restraint shall be properly fastened and secured according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  • You can find car seat guidance from the National Highway Traffic Safety Association here. 

  • The 100th Day of School is happening soon!  Please be on the lookout for information from your child’s teacher about this special elementary school ‘holiday.’

  • With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, this is a friendly reminder that Hillcrest students should not bring in candy or other edible treats to school in honor of this holiday.  Classroom teachers will  soon send home details about sharing Valentine cards with classmates. 

  • Be sure to mark your family’s calendar for GMRSD Math Night!  Check out this flier for details about Math Night on March 21st.  

Friends of Hillcrest

  • The next Friends of Hillcrest meeting will take place on Thursday, February 1st at 5:30. One important agenda item will be the FoH Spring Festival, scheduled for Sunday, May 19th. All are welcome!

Community News

  • Great Falls Discovery Center has a new Indoor Story Walk from January 26th through February 17th featuring Tracks in the Snow by Wong Herbert Yee. Explore the lives of active and resting winter wildlife. For ages 3 and up, accompanied by an adult.

  • Did you know that Saturday, February 3rd is Take Your Child to the Library Day?  Head on over to the Carnegie Library from 10 - 1 to enjoy the library, shop at the used book sale, or join  the Valentine Card Making event. 

  • Check out all the upcoming youth programs  at the Montague Public Libraries here. 

  • Please be sure to complete the Montague Public Libraries StoryTime Survey that was sent home in your child’s backpack this week.
