Hillcrest Updates

  • Happy New Year to all! The New Year is a good time for some important reminders and this week’s Friday News is dedicated to that purpose, so please keep reading!

  • All Hillcrest students should arrive at school prepared for cold weather each day. This means that all students should have a hat, jacket, mittens, snow pants and boots at school every day.  Even when there is no snow on the ground, extra layers adn warm footwear is very important. And, when we do have snow, students will not be able to play on the playground without snow pants and boots. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you are  unable to provide these items for your child. 

  • Our school day begins at 8:30 and staff members are at the arrival doors to greet students until 8:35.  After that time, parents and caregivers should accompany their children to the main entrance and sign them in using the sign-in log.  Arrivals after 8:35 are considered tardy. 

  • Please review the following guidelines for daily arrival & dismissal:

Arrival 

  • Kindergarten & First Grade:  Rolling Drop-Off takes place in the front traffic circle for first grade and kindergarten students only. During Rolling Drop-Off, please keep in mind that you must follow all traffic regulations concerning school buses.  Drivers must remain in the drop-off lane until they reach the front of the line; drivers may not cut out of the line.

  • Students should wait for a Hillcrest staff member to assist them in exiting the vehicle (passenger side only). 

  • Preschool: Preschool families should use the Griswold Street parking area and walk their children to their designated preschool doorway. 

 

Dismissal

  • Kindergarten and First Grade students will be dismissed to a family member or caregiver in their designated locations in the Griswold Street Courtyard Area.

  • Preschool students will be dismissed to a family member or caregiver in the designated area adjacent to their classrooms. 

  • Families and caregivers should park their vehicles in the Griswold Street parking lot.  Please be extra cautious as this lot gets crowded in the afternoons.

  • There will be no Rolling Dismissal or parking at the front traffic circle in the afternoon. This area will be used for bus dismissals only. 

 

Friends of Hillcrest

  • Friends of Hillcrest will host Cocoa & Crafts on Thursday, January 18th at 5:00.  Are you willing to help out at this event? We need volunteers to assist with crafts.  If you are, please email friendsofhillcrest2015@gmail.com. 

  • The next Friends of Hillcrest meeting will take place on Thursday, February 1st at 5:30. All are welcome!

 

Community News

  • Need some help with basic needs? Check out the Basic Needs Program at MCSM every Wednesday from 10:00 - 12:30.  

  • January 6th  - Saturday Story Time at the Carnegie Library @ 10:45

  • January 10th - Wednesday Lego Tim at the Carnegie Library from 3:00 - 4:30

  • Does your student love Bluey? Check out this fun event:

    • Saturday, January 13: “Let’s Play Library” Bluey Party. 11a.m. to 1p.m.. Join us at the Great Falls Discovery Center for crafts and activities related to the popular character, Bluey! This drop-in style event is sponsored by the Montague Public Libraries and hosted by the Great Falls Discovery Center.

Novedades de Hillcrest

 

  • ¡Feliz Año Nuevo a todos! El Año Nuevo es un buen momento para algunos recordatorios importantes y las Noticias del Viernes de esta semana están dedicadas a ese propósito, ¡así que por favor sigan leyendo!

  • Todos los estudiantes de Hillcrest deben llegar a la escuela preparados para el frío cada día. Esto significa que todos los estudiantes deben tener una gorra, chaqueta, guantes, pantalones de nieve y botas en la escuela todos los días.  Incluso cuando no hay nieve en el suelo, es muy importante llevar capas adicionales y calzado caliente. Y, cuando tengamos nieve, los alumnos no podrán jugar en el patio sin pantalones y botas de nieve. Por favor, póngase en contacto con el profesor de su hijo si usted no puede proporcionar estos artículos para su hijo. 

  • Nuestro día escolar comienza a las 8:30 y los miembros del personal están en las puertas de llegada para recibir a los estudiantes hasta las 8:35.  Después de esa hora, los padres y cuidadores deben acompañar a sus hijos a la entrada principal y firmar su llegada utilizando el registro de entrada.  Las llegadas después de las 8:35 se consideran retrasos. 

  • Por favor, revise las siguientes indicaciones para la llegada y salida diaria:

 

Llegada

  • Kindergarten y Primer Grado:  Dejar a los estudiantes en la rotonda es solamente para los estudiantes de primer grado y kindergarten. Durante el Rolling Drop-Off, por favor tenga en cuenta que usted debe seguir todas las normas de tráfico relativas a los autobuses escolares.  Los conductores deben permanecer en el carril de bajada hasta que lleguen al frente de la fila; los conductores no pueden salirse de la fila.

  • Los estudiantes deben esperar a que un miembro del personal de Hillcrest les ayude a salir del vehículo (sólo del lado del pasajero). 

  • Preescolar: Las familias de preescolar deben utilizar el área de estacionamiento de Griswold Street y caminar con sus hijos hasta la puerta designada para preescolar.

Salida

  • Los estudiantes de Kindergarten y Primer Grado serán entregados a un familiar o cuidador en sus lugares designados en el área del patio de la calle Griswold.

  • Los estudiantes de preescolar serán entregados a un familiar o cuidador en el área designada adyacente a sus aulas. 

  • Las familias y cuidadores deben estacionar sus vehículos en el estacionamiento de la calle Griswold.  Por favor tenga mucho cuidado ya que este estacionamiento se llena en las tardes.

  • No habrá Rolling Dismissal o estacionamiento en la rotonda delantera en la tarde. Esta área será utilizada solamente para las salidas del autobús.

 

Los Amigos de Hillcrest

  • Amigos de Hillcrest organizará Cocoa & Crafts el Jueves, 18 de Enero a las 5:00.  ¿Está dispuesto a ayudar en este evento? Necesitamos voluntarios para ayudar con la artesanía.  Si es así, por favor envíe un correo electrónico a friendsofhillcrest2015@gmail.com. 

  • La próxima reunión de Amigos de Hillcrest tendrá lugar el Jueves, 1 de Febrero a las 5:30. ¡Todos son bienvenidos!
