Hillcrest Updates

Thanks very much for joining us for our All School Meeting today. It’s always such a treat to have families at school!
-
We’re all looking forward to the annual Turkey Trot on Wednesday, November 22nd. We plan to begin at 9:15 and the event will last approximately an hour. If you’d like to lend a hand, please email Mrs. Tyler at elizabeth.tyelr@gmrsd.org.
-
Please be sure to join us on November 30th for GMRSD Family Literacy Night. This event will celebrate reading and writing with fun experiences for children from preschool through sixth grade. It begins at 6:00 and is designed so that our youngest students will come early, explore the various PK - 2 activities, and still make it home in time for an early bedtime!
-
With the colder weather approaching, please take the time to label all of your child’s outdoor clothing with their first and last name. Many students have the same jackets and snow pants, so clear labels are essential.
-
And, another clothing reminder. Some children have been arriving at school in boots with heels. Please review our dress code policy as noted in the GMRSD Elementary School Handbook:
-
Students should wear sturdy shoes safe for outdoor play. Footwear must fit securely to the foot for safety on the playground and stairs. High-heels, flip-flops and other backless sandals are not permitted. Slick-soled dress-up shoes are not safe on the playground. Sneakers are ideal and required on days when students have physical education.

-
The GMRSD annual food drive to benefit the food pantry at MCSM begins when we return from the Thanksgiving break on Monday, November 27th. Collection boxes for each grade level are located in the main entrance at school. You may send items in your child’s backpack or drop them off at school.
