Hillcrest's First Week of School Schedule
At Hillcrest, Thursday, August 30th marks the first day of school for our first grade students. For kindergarten and preschool students, Thursday, August 30th and Friday, August 31st are "Getting to Know You" Conference Days. These days are set aside for each preschool and kindergarten family to meet with their child’s teacher for a thirty-minute individualized session. If you are a preschool or kindergarten family, you should have received a letter indicating your conference time on the 30th or the 31st.
On Tuesday, September 4th, we will welcome our preschool and kindergarten students for their first day of school. September 4, 5, and 6 will be half days for preschool and kindergarten students; kindergartners will have their first full day of school on Friday, September 7.
Tuesday, September 4th is also Massachusetts Primary Election Day and voting for Montague Precincts 3 and 4 will take place here at Hillcrest. Because voting takes place in our All Purpose Room, our morning routines will be a bit different than usual. These changes will primarily impact our kindergarten students, so your child’s teacher will be sure to explain these changes during your Getting to Know You Conference. It will be very busy here on September 4th, but with some careful planning and some added security measures in place, we’ll be ready!
Also on September 4, I invite all Hillcrest families to join me in the Griswold Street courtyard at 8:40 for coffee and conversation. This is the perfect opportunity to build some new connections, to share your ideas for the upcoming school year and to simply celebrate the first day of school!
If you have any questions about the opening days of the school year, please call us at school at 413-863-9526 and Mrs. Prokowich, our Administrative Assistant, will be happy to help you. You may also email me at sarah.burstein@gmrsd.org. And, you can check for updates at our district website (www.gmrsd.org) and our school Facebook page (www.facebook.com/HillcrestEl) We’re all looking forward to seeing you and your child here at Hillcrest very soon!
