Hillcrest Updates

It was great to see so many Hillcrest students and their families at our Elementary Math Night! Special thanks to our district Math Team who planned this event and the members of our Hillcrest staff who volunteered to supervise the many fun math activities. Please mark your calendars for our next district curriculum night – Elementary Science Night at Gill Elementary School on May 16th.
We’re excited to welcome next year’s kindergarten students to Hillcrest at Kindergarten Open House on Thursday, March 26th from 5:30-6:30. Please come to visit our kindergarten classrooms, meet our kindergarten teachers and connect with community members, including Stacey Langknecht, GMRSD Family Engagement Coordinator, Angela Rovatti-Leonard, Carnegie Library Children’s Librarian, and Mary King & Lili Moresco of MCSM. New Hillcrest families can submit their registration packet and necessary documents at Open House. See you there!
The “lion and lamb” weather of March means that our students still need warm layers of clothing. In general, our students continue to need hats, mittens and even boots for school up until April Vacation Week. Please be sure that your child is prepared to go outside every day with appropriate outdoor gear. And, be sure to mark all jackets/sweatshirts/etc with your child’s first and last name.

A group of Great Falls Middle School 8th Graders is organizing a Clothing Drive to benefit Cradles to Crayons. The GFMS group is called Project 351 and they are looking for gently used clothing in sizes infant through adult medium. We will have a drop-off box here at Hillcrest from March 25th - April 4th.

Friends of Hillcrest

The next Friends of Hillcrest meeting will be held at Hillcrest on Thursday, April 4th at 5:30. All are welcome!
Please mark your calendars for the FoH Spring Festival, scheduled for Sunday, May 19th from 11:00 - 2:00.

Community News

The Montage Park and Rec department is hosting its annual Peter Cottontail’s EGGstravaganza on Saturday, March 30th at Unity Park.
There is a new indoor Storywalk at the Great Falls Discovery Center now through April 2nd. This Storywalk features the text, 999 Tadpoles by Ken Kimura.
While you’re at the Discovery Center, you can also check out the Sheffield Third Grader’s Art Exhibit: Designing My Library.
Carnegie Library is hosting a Solar Eclipse Celebration on Monday, April 8th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Novedades de Hillcrest

Fue grandioso ver a tantos estudiantes de Hillcrest y a sus familias en nuestra Noche de Matemáticas de Primaria. Un agradecimiento especial a nuestro equipo de Matemáticas del distrito que planeó este evento y los miembros de nuestro personal Hillcrest que se ofrecieron como voluntarios para supervisar las muchas actividades divertidas de matemáticas. Por favor marquen sus calendarios para nuestra próxima noche de currículo del distrito - Noche de Ciencias de Primaria en la Escuela Primaria Gill el 16 de Mayo.
Estamos muy contentos de dar la bienvenida a los estudiantes de kindergarten del próximo año a Hillcrest en la Casa Abierta de Kindergarten el Jueves, 26 de Marzo desde las 5:30 hasta las 6:30. Por favor, venga a visitar nuestras aulas de kindergarten, conozca a nuestros maestros de kindergarten y conéctese con miembros de la comunidad, incluyendo Stacey Langknecht, Coordinadora de Participación Familiar de GMRSD, Angela Rovatti-Leonard, Bibliotecaria Infantil de Carnegie Library, y Mary King & Lili Moresco de MCSM. El tiempo de "león y cordero" de marzo significa que nuestros estudiantes todavía necesitan capas de ropa de abrigo. En general, nuestros estudiantes siguen necesitando gorros, guantes e incluso botas para la escuela hasta la semana de vacaciones de Abril. Por favor, asegúrese de que su hijo está preparado para salir afuera todos los días con el equipo apropiado para el aire libre. Y, asegúrese de marcar todas las chaquetas/sudaderas/etc con el nombre y apellido de su hijo.

Temas repetidos

Un grupo de estudiantes de 8º grado de Great Falls Middle School está organizando una colecta de ropa a beneficio de Cradles to Crayons. El grupo de GFMS se llama Proyecto 351 y están buscando ropa usada en tallas desde bebé hasta adulto mediano. Tendremos un buzón aquí en Hillcrest del 25 de Marzo al 4 de Abril.

Los Amigos de Hillcrest

La próxima reunión de los Amigos de Hillcrest se celebrará en Hillcrest el Jueves, 4 de Abril a las 5:30. ¡Todos son bienvenidos!
Por favor, marquen sus calendarios para el Festival de Primavera FoH, programado para el domingo, 19 de Mayo de 11:00 - 2:00.
