Hillcrest Elementary School
Friday News
November 20, 2020
Dear Hillcrest Families,
When I was a young child, I spent lots of time with my grandmother, who happened to be a teacher in my elementary school. Needless to say, I learned all kinds of valuable life lessons from her, for which I am endlessly grateful. Without a doubt, the phrase that comes to mind when I think of her is “Patience, patience.” She would remind me of the virtues of patience almost daily, and she delivered this message in both English and Portuguese to ensure that I would pay attention! In the midst of the current pandemic, patience has become increasingly important. We have learned to be patient as we navigate the one-way aisles at the grocery store, as we remind ourselves and our family members to wear a mask, and as we take on new tasks and stretch ourselves in numerous ways. And, our entire community of students, families and staff members has been patient as we await the safe reopening of our schools. Please know how appreciative I am of your patience and that I am here at school each day ready to answer any questions you may have. You can always reach me via email at sarah.burstein@gmrsd.org or on my office phone at 413-863-7400.
