Dear Hillcrest Families,

May has arrived and our school grounds are blooming with fresh green leaves and flower blossoms!  The spring weather has led to seasonal allergies among some students. Please don’t hesitate to check in with our school Nurse, Melissa Bednarski, if  you are concerned about a sniffly nose or watery eyes.  In addition to pollen, another challenge of springtime is ticks.  Please be sure to check your child for ticks daily. You can find more resources about ticks at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health: www.mass.gov/dph/tick. 

Some important news items for the week: 

  • We want to express an enormous Thank You to Friends of HIllcrest and to all of our Hillcrest students and families for the Teacher Appreciation Week treats!  Our teachers enjoyed a delicious mini-brunch on Monday hosted by Friends of Hillcrest and several teachers won some fun raffle items, too!  And, our bulletin boards are full of beautiful Teacher Appreciation artwork created by our students ! We are so appreciative of everyone’s efforts to acknowledge the dedication of our Hillcrest staff. 

 

  • Picture Day was a success! The weather cooperated and Photographer Molly Baxter was able to capture some beautiful smiles with the green trees as a backdrop. If your student missed Picture Day, there will be one more opportunity on Wednesday, May 12th at 9:30 a.m.  Please call Mrs. Prokowich in the Main Office at 863-9526 for more information. 

 

  •  If you are looking for some family fun this weekend, please stop by Montague Center  Town Common on Saturday for another Hillcrest Story Walk. This Story Walk will feature the book Over and Under the Pond by Kate Messner.   • REPEAT ITEM: If you have friends or family who are the parents/guardians of a kindergarten-eligible child (five years old before September 1, 2021), please let them know that it’s time to register for kindergarten.  More information on Student Registration can be found at www.grmrsd.org or by calling the Office of Student Services at 413-863-7508.

  • Saturday, May 15th -- Story Walk -- Rutters Park, Lake Pleasant

  • Monday, May 31st -- Memorial Day/No School

  • Monday, June 14th -- Last day of school for students
