Hillcrest Updates

  • We had lots of fun walking to school together on Walk/Bike/Roll to School Day on Wednesday! A special thank you to our parent volunteers, the Montague Police and Fire Departments, the town of Montague, the Montague Elks Club, and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

  • Please keep sending your Teacher Appreciation Week hearts to school next week!  Friends of Hillcrest will post these on a bulletin board for all of our staff members to enjoy. 

  • With the warm spring weather finally here, it’s time for an important reminder about student footwear.  As noted in our Family Handbook, 

    • “Students should wear sturdy shoes safe for outdoor play. Footwear must fit securely to the foot for safety on the playground and stairs. High-heels, flip-flops and other backless sandals are not permitted. Slick-soled dress-up shoes are not safe on the playground. Sneakers are ideal and required on days when students have physical education.”

  • When children arrive at school in flip-flops or backless sandals, we will give  you a call and ask that you deliver appropriate footwear to school.  Thank you. 

  • And a bit of bittersweet news – Mary Prokowich, Hillcrest Administrative Assistant, is retiring at the end of this school year.  We will all mis Mary very much and we’re excited for her to embark on her next adventure. Congratulations to Mary! 

 

Friends of Hillcrest

  • Flowers from the Friends of Hillcrest flower sale will be ready for pick-up at Hillcrest on Friday, May 10th.  You may pick up your flower orders from 11:30 - 3:30 in the Griswold Street parking lot. 

  • Please mark your calendars for the FoH Spring Festival, scheduled for Sunday, May 19th from 11:00 - 2:00. 

  • The next Freinds of Hillcrest meeting is Thursday, June 6th at 5:30. All Hillcrests community members are welcome to attend.

  • The Montague Public Libraries have lots of great events happening in May.  Please check out their May newsletter, attached to your weekly Friday News email.
