Dear Hillcrest Families,

We had a blast at Field Day today!  A giant thank you goes out to Ms. Liz Tyler, GMRSD PE Teacher, for making this super fun event possible!  We were lucky to have several family volunteers lending a helping hand today and we thank each of you for your hard work. 

A few important news items:

  • Be sure to check out the collection of Summer Reading Books that came home in your child’s backpack on Tuesday, June 13th.  Along with some excellent books, you will also find some great math activities, some cool bookmarks and a summer reading log.  Please complete and return your summer reading log in September and your child will earn a book from the book vending machine! 

  • We unveiled our amazing new Buddy Bench at the All School Meeting this morning.  It will be installed on the K & 1 playground in the next few weeks.  Special thanks to our first grade activists for speaking up and reaching out to the community to bring this bench to our playground.  Thank you to Friends of Hillcrest and the TFHS Alumni Association for funding this special purchase. 

  • A note of appreciation to the team at Turners Falls Fire Department who responded to a small fire in our hot water heater on Thursday afternoon.  The TF FD resolved the situation very efficiently and kept all of our students and staff members safe.  We are grateful for these community heroes! 

  • We had a chance to see our firefighter friends again on Friday when they joined us for some Field Day Fun!  

  • Be sure to check out all of the attachments to this week’s email.  You’ll find details about special summer events at the Montague Libraries as well as an invitation to the Summer Meals Kick-Off on Monday, July 26th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the last half-days of the school year on June 20th, 21st and 22nd.

Estimadas familias de Hillcrest,

¡Nos divertimos mucho hoy en el Día de Campo!  Muchas gracias a la Sra. Liz Tyler, profesora de educación física de GMRSD, por hacer posible este evento tan divertido.  Tuvimos la suerte de tener varias familias voluntarias que nos ayudaron hoy y les agradecemos a cada uno de ustedes por su arduo trabajo.

Algunas noticias importantes:

  • Asegúrese de revisar la colección de libros de Lectura de Verano que se entregó a sus hijos en la mochila el Martes, 13 de Junio.  Junto con algunos libros excelentes, también encontrará algunas actividades de Matemáticas, algunos marcadores de libros y un registro de lectura de verano.  ¡Por favor, complete y devuelva su registro de lectura de verano en Septiembre y su hijo ganará un libro de la máquina expendedora de libros!

  • Esta mañana, en la reunión escolar, hemos inaugurado nuestro nuevo banco.  Será instalado en el patio de K & 1 en las próximas semanas.  Un agradecimiento especial a nuestros activistas de primer grado por hablar y llegar a la comunidad para traer este banco a nuestro patio de recreo.  Gracias a los Amigos de Hillcrest y la Asociación de Antiguos Alumnos TFHS por la financiación de esta compra especial.

  • Una nota de agradecimiento al equipo del Departamento de Bomberos de Turners Falls que respondió a un pequeño incendio en nuestro calentador de agua caliente el jueves por la tarde.  El TF FD resolvió la situación de manera muy eficiente y mantuvo a todos nuestros estudiantes y miembros del personal a salvo.  ¡Estamos muy agradecidos por estos héroes de la comunidad!

  • ¡Tuvimos la oportunidad de ver a nuestros amigos bomberos de nuevo el viernes cuando se unieron a nosotros para un poco de diversión Día de Campo! 

  • Asegúrese de revisar todos los archivos adjuntos al correo electrónico de esta semana.  Encontrará detalles sobre eventos especiales de verano en las Bibliotecas Montague, así como una invitación a las comidas de verano Kick-Off el Lunes, 26 de Julio de 4:00 p.m. a 6:00 p.m..

  • No olviden marcar sus calendarios para los últimos medios días del año escolar los días 20, 21 y 22 de Junio.
