Dear Hillcrest Families,

It’s another Snow Day on a Friday and that means we’ll need to reschedule our January All School Meeting!  I will consult with our teachers on Monday and I will communicate the new All School Meeting date via email on Monday afternoon.  

A few important news items:

  • In the past several editions of Friday News, I have listed Friday, January 27th as a No School Day.  We’ve had many questions about this, so we recently sent home another copy of the updated school calendar as well as a bright pink paper flyer this week as a reminder.  I hope that all Hillcrest families are now aware that there is no school for students next Friday.  Please be sure to spread the word! Thank you. 

  • There are several No School and Early Release Days in the next few weeks, so please be sure to take a look at the Important Dates section of this newsletter. 

  • We’re looking forward to Cocoa & Crafts Night, sponsored by Friends of Hillcrest on Thursday, February 9th. Please be sure to reach out to Friends of Hillcrest if you’re able to lend a hand as a volunteer.  They can be reached at friendsofhillcrest2015@gmail.com or via their Facebook page. 

  • If you’re looking for some indoor winter fun for your Hillcrest student, don’t forget about the wonderful resource we have right downtown at The Great Falls Discovery Center.  Their latest indoor Story Walk, featuring the beautiful picture book, Tracks in the Snow by Wong Herbert Yee, begins tomorrow and runs through January 29th.  Another fun Discovery Center event is Who’s Been Here? A Tracking Adventure from 1:00 - 2:00 tomorrow (Saturday, January 21st). The Discovery Center is located at 2 Avenue A in Turners Falls. These events are free of charge, too!
