Dear Hillcrest Families,

Happy February! While February is the shortest month, it’s always filled with special elementary school events like the 100th Day of School and Valentine’s  Day. Please be on the lookout for information from your child’s teacher about these two special days. Each classroom recognizes these days in its own unique way, but there are sure to be some sweet things happening! 

It was definitely a treat to end January with our annual Cocoa, Cookies and Crafts event last Friday evening!  We all had so much fun enjoying cocoa with marshmallows, creating adorable craft projects and decorating sugar cookies with all kinds of frosting and sprinkles!  Special thanks to Friends of Hillcrest and the many volunteers who made this event such a success. Our next evening get-together for Hillcrest families and friends is Read Across Hillcrest on Friday, March 6th. This event coincides with Read Across America and will be the culmination of a week of Dr. Seuss-themed activities.  If you are interested in lending a hand at Read Across Hillcrest, please give me a call or drop me an email (sarah.burstein@gmrsd.org). 

Looking ahead, please keep these dates in mind:

  • School Vacation Week is February 17th - February 21st

  • February All School Meeting is on Friday, February 28th

  • Read Across Hillcrest is on Friday, March 6th

  • Kindergarten Open House for new students & families is Thursday, March 26th

  • Kindergarten Registration is Monday, March 30th
