Dear Hillcrest Families,

Happy 100th Day of School!  Our students were so excited to celebrate this important school  year milestone today!  Please be sure to ask them about all their 100th Day activities. 

A few important news items:

  • On the 100th Day, our students were engaged in all kinds of learning centered on 100.  There were math challenges, fitness activities, fine motor experiences, art projects, read-alouds and more.  You can extend this learning at home in many ways.  Our math intervention teacher, Ms. Hirst, created a list of math challenges that went home in your child’s backpack and is also attached to your weekly email.  You can also try out all of the 100th Day Fitness Stations on the attached fitness checklist created by our P.E. teacher, Ms. Tyler. 

  • On Thursday, first grade enjoyed a fabulous presentation by Janel Nocklesby of the Great Falls Discovery Center. This learning experiencewas directly connected to the first graders’ current Wit & Wisdom module – Creature Features.  Ask your first grader what they learned about the special features of the animals who live right here in our neighborhoods!

  • Our February All School Meeting will take place on Friday, February 17th at 9:00 a.m.  The following classes will be presenting their learning:  Preschool - Ms. Chase, Kindergarten - Mrs. Lesenski, First Grade - Miss Matrishon. We hope you can join us!

  • Our district has created a new virtual Family Center at www.grmsd.org.  You can find parenting resources to support you from early childhood through the teen years, a virtual library of children’s books on important topics, mental health resources, and district contacts.  Be sure to check it out!

 

REPEAT ITEMS

  • Valentine’s Day is coming up and your child’s teacher will be sending home a letter about their plans for exchanging valentine cards in the classroom. Please note that this is an optional activity. If you chose to send valentines to school, please do not send any edible treats (candy, cookies, etc.).  Our school policy prohibits food being sent into school for any kind of holiday or celebration.  We will not be able to distribute your child’s valentine cards if they contain any edible treats.  

  • A note from Molly Brooks, Director of Food Services – If you have a student that wants to add a milk to a home lunch they have two options: 

  1. They can have a milk for $0.50 either cash or on their account 

  1. They can take a bonus bag which is a reimbursable meal and thus will be Free. 

A bonus bag will consist of milk, either regular white or chocolate, with at least 2 fruits or vegetables. It will have whatever the kitchen has for shelf stable or fresh fruits and vegetables or vegetable juice.  Fruit juice is not an option.

Estimadas familias de Hillcrest,

¡Feliz día 100 de clases! ¡Nuestros estudiantes estaban tan emocionados de celebrar este importante hito del año escolar hoy! Asegúrese de preguntarles sobre todas sus actividades del Día 100.

Algunas noticias importantes:

  • En el Día 100, nuestros estudiantes participaron en todo tipo de aprendizaje centrado en el número  100. Hubo desafíos matemáticos, actividades físicas, experiencias de motricidad fina, proyectos de arte, lecturas en voz alta y más. Puede extender este aprendizaje en casa de muchas maneras. Nuestra maestra de intervención de matemáticas, la Sra. Hirst, creó una lista de desafíos de Matemáticas que se envió a casa en la mochila de su hijo y también se adjunta a su correo electrónico semanal. También puede probar todas las Estaciones de acondicionamiento físico del Día 100 en la lista de verificación de acondicionamiento físico adjunta creada por nuestra  maestra de P.E., Sra. Tyler.

  • El jueves, el primer grado disfrutó de una fabulosa presentación de Janel Nocklesby del Great Falls Discovery Center. Esta experiencia de aprendizaje se conectó directamente con el módulo actual de Ingenio y Sabiduría de los alumnos de primer grado: Características de las criaturas. ¡Pregúntele a su hijo de primer grado qué aprendió sobre las características especiales de los animales que viven aquí en nuestros vecindarios!

  • Nuestra reunión de toda la escuela de febrero se llevará a cabo el viernes 17 de febrero a las 9:00 a. m. Las siguientes clases presentarán su aprendizaje: Preescolar - Sra. Chase, Kínder - Sra. Lesenski, Primer grado - Srta. Matrishon. ¡Esperamos que pueda unirse a nosotros!

  • Nuestro distrito ha creado un nuevo Centro familiar virtual en www.grmsd.org. Puede encontrar recursos para padres que lo apoyen desde la primera infancia hasta la adolescencia, una biblioteca virtual de libros para niños sobre temas importantes, recursos de salud mental y contactos del distrito. ¡Asegúrate de comprobarlo!

 

REPETIR ARTÍCULOS

  • Se acerca el Día de San Valentín y el maestro de su hijo enviará a casa una carta sobre sus planes para intercambiar tarjetas de San Valentín en el salón de clases. Tenga en cuenta que esta es una actividad opcional. Si elige enviar tarjetas de San Valentín a la escuela, no envíe ningún regalo comestible (dulces, galletas, etc.). Nuestra política escolar prohíbe que se envíen alimentos a la escuela para cualquier tipo de festividad o celebración. No podremos distribuir las tarjetas de San Valentín de su hijo si contienen golosinas comestibles.

 

  • Una nota de Molly Brooks, Directora de Servicios de Alimentos: si tiene un estudiante que quiere agregar leche a un almuerzo en casa, tiene dos opciones:

  1. Pueden tener una leche por $0.50 ya sea en efectivo o en su cuenta

  1. Pueden llevarse una bolsa de bonificación que es una comida reembolsable y por lo tanto será Gratis.

Una bolsa de bonificación consistirá en leche, ya sea blanca normal o de chocolate, con al menos 2 frutas o verduras. Tendrá lo que la cocina sirva ese día o frutas y verduras frescas o jugo de verduras. El jugo de frutas no es una opción.
