Dear Hillcrest Families,

The first day of school is just around the corner and we are so excited to welcome back our old friends and connect with our new friends!  If you are new to our school community, please be on the lookout for the weekly edition of Friday News which you will receive via email every Friday afternoon during the school year.  Your email program may send the initial email to your “Junk” or “Clutter” folder, so please take some time to adjust your settings so that you don’t miss important school news.  In addition to receiving this newsletter via email, you can also find it on our school website and Facebook page. 

A few important news items:

  • All Hillcrest families should have received their Welcome Back packet in the mail last week.  If you have not received this packet, please call Mrs. Prokowich in our main office at 413-863-9526.

  • The flooring project at Hillcrest has been completed and we now have beautiful new floors in our hallways, the main office & health office, the staff lounge, the all-purpose room and the cafeteria. These floors are a major improvement to our school building and we are grateful to the town of Montague, the School Committee,  and the GMRSD Facilities Department for all their effort in making this project happen. 

  • Friends of Hillcrest, our fabulous parent group, is hosting some fun events next week:

    • On August 28, from 9-11am, Friends of Hillcrest will host the  second annual Playground Meet and Greet on the Hillcrest PK Playground  for returning families and new families! Come play with returning friends, and make some new ones before the school year begins. Friends of Hillcrest members will be there with our kids and to answer any questions you may have about what we do for the school community!

    • On August 31 from 4-5pm Friends of Hillcrest  will be holding a “Chalk the Walk”event at Hillcrest. This is a chance to decorate the sidewalk in front of the school to welcome teachers, staff and students back for the school year! Bring your kids for 5 minutes, or 30 and help us beautify the sidewalk!
