Hillcrest Updates

We had so much fun seeing our first graders perform their Story Dance of Where the Wild Things Are on Thursday morning! This enrichment program, led by local dance instructor, Anna Hendricks, was funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
When we return from School Vacation Week, there are several events on the Hillcrest Calendar. We’ll have our April All School Meeting on Friday, April 26th at 9:00 a.m. The following classes will present their learning: Ms. Holly’s preschoolers, Mrs. Fox’s kindergarten students and Ms Johsnon’s first graders. We hope you can join us!
Also on Friday, April 26th, we’ll host our annual Preschool Open House & Registration event from 12:30 - 2:30. This event is for children and families who are interested in joining our preschool program for the first time.
Many important flyers were sent home in your Hillcrest student’s folder this week – be sure to take a look! These included information about Walk/Ride/Roll to School Day, School Vacation Week Lunches and the Friends of Hillcrest Spring Flower Sale and Spring Festival.

Be sure to plan ahead for our springtime Walk/Ride/Roll to School Day on Wednesday, May 1st. As we did in the fall, students and families will be invited to walk to school that day with district staff and community members. There will be two meet-up locations – the Montague Safety Complex and the Montague Elks Club – and we’ll walk from there to both Sheffield and Hillcrest.
Elementary Science Night will be held at Gill Elementary School on Thursday, May 16th. There is very limited parking at Gill; therefore, we are offering transportation on a school bus. In order to know how many busses we will need, families will need to sign-up by Friday, April 12th. Pick-up and drop-off locations include Food City in Turners Falls, Sheffield Elementary School, Millers Falls Center, Montague Center, and Rutter's Park in Lake Pleasant. Parents or caregivers must ride the bus with their student(s). If you would like to ride the bus, please sign up here.

Friends of Hillcrest

Paper order forms for the Friends of Hillcrest Spring Flower Sale were sent home earlier this week. You can also find the form here.
The next Friends of Hillcrest meeting will be held on Thursday, May 2nd from 5:30 - 6:30. All are welcome!
Please mark your calendars for the FoH Spring Festival, scheduled for Sunday, May 19th from 11:00 - 2:00.

Community News

The Franklin County Community Meals Program and Our Lady of Peace Church will be serving April Vacation Lunches for community children each day next week from 12 - 1.
The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation has many great school vacation week activities planned in our region at the Great Falls Discovery Center, Holyoke Heritage State Park, and Mount Greylock Reservation. Check them out here.
