SHEFFIELD SPOTLIGHT
MARCH 17, 2023
REMINDER - BRING A WATER BOTTLE EVERYDAY!
Please send a water bottle with your student daily (or even send one to keep at school). Students remember more and stay focused longer when they are hydrated. Having a water bottle at their desk and in gym class allows them to drink water throughout the day and also keeps them in class and learning.
2ND GRADE ART
In this unit based on "shape" and "form", students learn about the American artist Wayne Thiebaud. Wayne Thiebaud was an early proponent of "Pop Art" and known for painting bright colorful images of dessert. Students examined many of his paintings and then created their own works of art using both paint and clay. Their work is colorful and fun and I know every one of them loved adding glitter sprinkles to their work before bringing it home! ~ Ms. Castro-Santos
MARCH MADNESS - PICTURE BOOK CHALLENGE
Let the "Reading Games" begin as March Madness has hit Sheffield! Throughout March students will be reading books and voting on their favorite. Which book with be the SES winner?
MANY, MANY THANKS TO FRIENDS OF SHEFFIELD!
Our Team is so grateful for the delicious "concession stand" treats that you provided us with during Caregiver Conferences! We really appreciate all you do to support Team Sheffield staff and students! Thank you so much!

Boon Supply Fundraiser
Be on the lookout for our Boon Supply fundraiser flier and catalog which were sent home this week. Boon Supply offers reusable bags, water bottles, candles, magazines, popcorn and baking mixes, and we're partnering with them to raise funds for our school.
This fundraiser will run from Monday, March 20 to Friday, April 7.
Items may be purchased online and will be shipped directly to your home.
You can see what they offer and find our fundraiser online at www.boonsupply.com/1306435.
This year Friends of Sheffield has funded a trip for our students to see Willy Wonka, Jr. at Ja’Duke, and coming up next week, we have invited Chris Poulos, a world champion BMX bike rider, author and speaker, to come talk to our students about kindness, anti-bullying and respect - and to show off some of his amazing bike tricks! This year we hosted our first ever Trunk-or-Treat event, and we’re gearing up to present BINGO for Books on 3/24. We couldn’t have done any of it without the generous support of so many of our families, but there’s more we have planned and more we want to do for our students. Thank you for your continued support of our school!

2023 GMEF ANNUAL GALA RETURNS FAITHFULLY - “AN EAGLES & JOURNEY EXPERIENCE”
2023 GMEF Annual Gala Returns
Faithfully - “An Eagles & Journey Experience”
Returning in April 2023 after a 4 year hiatus generates mixed emotions – excitement, hope, and uncertainty – to name just a few. The impact of the pandemic on K–12 student learning was significant. It widened preexisting opportunity and achievement gaps, hitting historically disadvantaged students hardest. During the past 4 years, we continued to award 3 ($250) scholarships, roses for our graduates and assisted our staff financially with enrichment projects. To date, we have awarded nearly $126,840 in grants.
The GMEF is excited to welcome on Saturday, April 29, 2023@ 7:00pm to the TFHS Theater, Faithfully - “An Eagles & Journey Experience”. Faithfully will re-create the music of The Eagles & Journey with material from all eras of the band's career, encompassing the band's biggest hits as well as fan favorites, including: Tequila Sunrise, Desperado, Open Arms, Don’t Stop Believin’ and many more.
Advance Tickets are $30– At the Door $35
Tickets Available at these Locations: Hillside Pizza – Bernardston; Weatherheads Convenience Store – Erving; World Eye Bookshop – Greenfield; Bobby’s Hair & Nail Salon – Northfield; Freedom Credit Union; Greenfield Savings Bank & Scotty’s Store - Turners Falls.
