Performance by GFMS 8th Graders
Thank you to Alyssa Comeau and her students for putting on a beautiful concert for the students at Sheffield! Our students loved learning about the instruments being played and enjoyed the songs! GFMS students received a standing ovation from us for their amazing performance!
What's Up Wednesdays?
This past month, the staff at Sheffield kept the students guessing with "What's Up Wednesday?" Here are some pictures from Flannel Day and Superhero Day!
12 Days to Vacation Recognition Event
At Sheffield Elementary School, we have been counting down the days until vacation. Each day students have been receiving tickets for displaying positive behaviors during the school day. These behaviors included manners, kindness, and participation. In addition, we have been enjoying our school spirit week which included pajamas and hats. All students have been putting their tickets into our snowman box. Fifteen student names were drawn and those students were able to purchase books from the vending machine.
Today, December 22, Ms. King and her students put on a beautiful holiday sing. Following it, we held a surprise Ugly Sweater red carpet event. Our staff showcased their sweaters and students were able to vote for the Most Festive, Most Creative, and Funniest Sweaters. Congratluations to our staff and our student winners!
Wit and Wisdom with Ms. Tully's class
Third grade has worked incredibly hard on our end of Module Project for Wit & Wisdom (ELA). We have studied the focus question of "why and how do scientists explore sea creatures" and students have worked on a project that requires them to write a didactic wall panel on either a certain type of shark or squid that they studied from their books. Students then were able to create bigger versions of their creatures and put them into a hallway "aquarium". The third grade had a blast with this project and are proud of their hard work!
Pieces of Creative Writing from Ms. Skiff's Class
Over the course of a couple weeks, students thought about and planned their favorite sweet treat writing. Students worked on this writing in addition to other writings and curricula. Each essay had to have an introduction, at least two reasons supported by evidence and elaboration as to why the student chose that specific candy, and it had to end with a conclusion. Students then typed their final drafts with final revision/edits with me. They worked so hard and should be very proud, and it shows in all their final pieces!
Do you want to Build a Snowman?
Fifth grade student collaborate to build a snowman in Ms. Tyler’s PE class.
Indoor Recess Fun with Friends
Thanks to staff who donated board games for indoor recess. Sheffield third grades enjoyed playing games with their friends!
