Learning Multiplication is Fun!
We played "Array Capture" when we first worked on arrays. Students compete with each other by trying to fill in a grid with arrays using this "gameboard", two dice each, and coloring pencils. Students must use knowledge of multiplication facts and critical thinking to capture the largest area on the gameboard. They love to try to capture each other and don't even realize they are doing mathematics. - Mrs.Yurkevicz
Resources for Learning to Tie Shoes
Hi Sheffield Families!
I've been noticing a LOT of kids having trouble with shoe tying. If the traditional ways of tying shoes feels too tricky for your child, here's some videos with some alternative techniques, that some kids find to be easier.

Music News - January 2023
Second and third grade students are working with Freddie the Frog and his adventures to learn to read notes on the music staff and rhythmic notation. They will begin to put the notes and the rhythmic notation together to read and perform basic songs like Hot Cross Buns.
Fourth grade students are working on reading music notation while playing the recorders.
Fifth grade students are All School Sing Ambassadors. As ambassadors they are assisting with greetings, demonstrating expectations, and leading the school in songs. They have spent time discussing and practicing these different leadership roles.
All students have been singing a variety of songs including rounds and partner songs.
Snow Angel Collages
Look at these beautiful collages made by our fourth graders in art class with Ms. Castro-Santos. Such talent!
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
The students in Ms. Pelis' class had a meeting "respect". Her students wrote about "Respectful actions towards people, places and things."
3rd Grade Virtual Field Trip in Science with Ms. Neeley
To celebrate finishing up their work on fossils and survival of the fittest all the 3rd grade classes got to participate in a virtual field trip. Students got a live tour of the Beneski Natural History Museum at Amherst College. Some of the things we saw included a t-rex skull, a Colombian Mammoth, and dinosaur footprints found in Turners Falls! Ask your student what their favorite fossil was.
