3rd Grade Science with Ms. Neeley
In third grade science we are learning about lifecycles. In Ms. Skiff’s class we dissected lima beans to see what the inside looks like. We learned two science vocabulary words to describe the parts of a seed. The seed coat is on the outside of a seed and protects it until it is ready to grow. On the inside of the seed there is an embryo which is another word for a baby plant.

Fourth Grade Science with Ms. Neeley
Using Stored Energy
In fourth grade science we are continuing to learn about energy. Students experimented with water turbines to see how changing how high the water was poured from impacted how fast the turbine moved. These pictures show students in Ms. Eichorn’s class doing their experiments.

FOS brings Chris Poulos, a world champion BMX bike rider to SES!
On Thursday, March 23, Friends of Sheffield brought Chris Poulos, a world champion BMX bike rider, author and speaker, to come talk to our students about kindness, anti-bullying and respect.
Chris' message was to Choose Kindness, Earn Respect, Be Kind, Be Polite, Follow Diredctions, Choose Kind Words, and to follow the Platinum Rule! He encouraged us all to be prepared, be safe, find a hobby, and think outside the box as he shared his life story about turning his passion and love for BMX bikes into a career.
Ms. Lapan's fifth grade class reflected on the assembly as shared:
"You get back what you give."
"I liked how to talked about kindess."
"Practice makes progress."
"Perserverance."
And my favorite quote of the day came from a third grade friend during "Coversation Starters" at lunch.
"My favorite part of the assembly was when he jumped his bike over 'Mr. Harry Potter'!" He was referring to Mr. Howes, our 5th grade teacher. Make sure you ask your student about Chris Poulos' favorite stunt involving two of our teachers.
A huge shout out to the FRIENDS OF SHEFFIELD! Thank you so much for bringing this incredible message and performance to our students.

Bingo for Books
Our Bingo for Books event is THIS Friday, March 24th from 6:00 - 7:30 PM in the Sheffield Cafeteria. The event is free to play and allows winners to choose a new book and other small prizes. Among the book choices will be 5 copies of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory since the kids saw Willy Wonka Jr. back in January. Our small prizes pictured below include: bookmarks, fun key chains, zipper bracelets, multicolor pens, tie dye pencils, animal pencil toppers, scratch art notebooks.
Our bonus round prizes are as follows:

Movie Fundraiser
Be on the lookout for our Movie Fundraiser flier & order form next week! We hope you'll join us at Greenfield Garden Cinemas for a showing of The Super Mario Bros. Movie on Saturday, April 15th at 9 AM. Tickets will be $5 each and the event will be open to the public. It's a great opportunity to do something fun over spring break while supporting the school! Be sure to invite your friends and family!
