SHEFFIELD SPOTLIGHT
OCTOBER 28, 2022
SCHOOL SPIRIT WEEK - MONDAY, OCTOBER 31 - NOVEMBER 4!
A reminder that we are a fragrance-free learning environment.
For safety, masks cannot be worn.
FIRE SAFETY PRESENTATION
On Tuesday, October 25, Captain Hartnett, Captain Ellis, firefighter Doyle, and firefighter Korby came to meet with the Sheffield students to teach them about fire safety. The presentation focused on teaching students that firefighters are their friends and are there to protect and help their family and pets. They stressed the importance for everyone to be prepared in advance, so that they know what to do when a smoke alarm sounds in their home. They explained and demonstrated the smoke detector, turnout gear (helmet, face shield, personal alert safety system, self-contained breathing apparatus, and more), and their thermal detectors.
Each student has fire safety homework! Together as a family:
1. Establish a family meeting location.
2. Determine two exits.
3. Have a practice fire drill with the entire family.
Many thanks to the Turners Falls Fire Department! We look forward to seeing you again on Monday, October 31 when you teach us about Halloween safety.
KINDNESS MATTERS!
Today, wrapped up October's Book Vending Machine theme of Kindness. We are so proud of our students. Together they "teamed" up to empower each other to create a culture of kindness in our hallways, cafeteria, classrooms, and playground.
Congratulations to every student that received a "kindness ticket" this month! Here are this week's "gold coin" winners!
