Principal Newsletter February 14
•Happy Valentine’s Day! Some classes exchanged Valentines, while others chose to make cards as a community service project, but it was a day to enjoy friendships.
•In honor of Black History Month, each morning after a fifth grader recites the pledge of allegiance over our loudspeaker, they read about the contributions of influential black Americans to our culture. Pictures and what’s been shared adorn a bulletin board on the first floor.
•There is an All School Meeting tomorrow, Friday, February 15 in our auditorium from 2:15-2:45. All families are welcome to attend.
•School will be closed for winter break from February 18-February 22. We reopen on Monday, February 25 at 8:10.
•Students are outside getting fresh air and exercise every day as long as the wind and air temperature combined is 20 degrees or warmer. When we have snow on the ground, we require that students have on both snow pants and boots to be allowed in the snow, so students stay dry. Our nurse has extra snow pants, boots, and coats for students to borrow if they need them for recess. There may be times that ice will prohibit an outdoor recess for safety reasons. In the event that students are prohibited from going out, they have an indoor recess in their classroom where they play board games, work with Lego’s, work on computers, draw/color, and socialize with peers.
•Have a safe, enjoyable and healthy February break!
With Sheffield Pride,
